Restaurant Style Salsa
When I was a newlywed, we spent a lot of money eating at Mexican restaurants, and I realized if I could make my own salsa, I'd be glad to save my money and eat at home. After burning lots of tongues at social gatherings, I finally got the recipe right. To get the right heat for your crowd, add your sliced jalapeños to the blend a little at a time. You can always start with one whole jalapeño, so add one whole sliced one & go from there.
(1) 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes with green chilies
(1) 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes
1 onion (quarter it and separate the layers)
1 bunch of cilantro (cut the stalks off, y'all)
Juice of half a lime
1 tsp garlic salt
1 - 1.5 sliced jalapeños (add to taste)
Salt to taste
Blend all this in a blender or food processor. A word to the wise- put all your tomato ingredients in first to wet the blade, followed by your onions and jalapeños, then cilantro. BOOM! You can even serve it up without chilling it. And you're famous just like that!
